Happy #wildlifewednesday – If you’re enjoying the cicadas, one thing to be on the lookout for is different eye colors. There’s a lot of interesting variation if you pay close attention. Sure, on most cicadas you will see the expected red eyes. However, a closer look may reveal different shades of red, and you may even stumble across one with white or blue eyes. #cicada #cicadas2021 #broodx #nature #naturephotography #naturecenter #arlingtonva #cicadington

As cicada activity continues and many seem to be more active at our level of the forest for egg-laying, this is a reminder from one of our favorite bug-hunters to be gentle to the cicadas. They don’t sting or bite, and if they land on you they can easily – and gently- be encouraged to just as quickly leave. #cicadington #broodx #cicada #arlingtonva #nature #naturephotography #naturecenter
