The route winds downhill and crosses the C&O Canal, where the group will learn about George Pointer and the canal%u2019s rich history. Hikers will continue upstream before recrossing the canal and ascending to the Union Arch Bridge, part of the historic Washington Aqueduct. The journey concludes with a walk through Glen Echo to the Clara Barton National Historic Site. This four-mile hike is intended for physically fit walkers with good balance. The route includes elevation changes and uneven, unpaved terrain with rocks and exposed tree roots.
